Sense-a-Story transform traditional storytelling sessions into immersive,
multi-sensory experiences for children in Aberdeen.
At Sense-a-Story, we bring stories to life using all five external senses, encouraging children to see, hear, smell, touch, and even taste the story!

Multi-Sensory Classes
Our classes are designed to stimulate young minds through multi-sensory sessions that foster creativity, learning, and development.
Sight
Stimulating visuals, and colourful props, toys and puppets bring the characters and settings to life.
Touch
Children get hands-on with a variety of textures and materials, from soft fabrics and rough bark to slimy goo and sandy grains, connecting
messy play to the story!
Sound
Sound effects and musical instruments create a rich auditory landscape that immerse children in the narrative.
Smell
Carefully chosen natural scents evoke the story's environment, whether it's the fresh scent of a grassy meadow, the sweet smell of a
fruit orchard, or the comforting aroma of
freshly baked bread.
Taste
We incorporate healthy fruits and vegetables into our stories, and fun things like taste-safe “mud” and “seaweed”, offering a fun and safe way to engage your child's sense of taste.
Stories for Every Child
Our Baby, Toddler and Preschool Multi-Sensory Classes are designed to be inclusive.
Along with the spoken word, stories are signed, making them more accessible to more children
Please note: We don't teach sign. We use signing in an effort to be more inclusive, and to add an extra visual element to the story.
Baby, Toddler and Preschool Multi-Sensory Classes
Our baby, toddler and preschool multi-sensory classes are designed for children aged 6 months - 5 years and their accompanying adult.
We hold 45-minute sessions at our two venues on Wednesday and Thursday mornings.

Classes are £7.50 each when booked as a 4-week block. Pay As You Go Sessions are £8.00. There is no extra cost for an additional sibling.

Sense-a-Story Birthday Party Sessions
Make your child's special day unforgettable with a sensory storytelling experience. Sense-a-Story birthday party sessions are suitable for any child or young person (aged 1-18) who would like to have Sense-a-Story as part of their special day. Just tell us the theme, story or idea you have in mind.
School and Nursery Visits
Bring the enchanting world of Sense-a-Story to your school, nursery, or setting with our tailored visits. Each session includes hands-on activities and can link to learning objectives. Schedule a visit and bring the magic of Sense-a-Story to your school or nursery.
About Sense-a-Story
Our sessions engage children in a multi-sensory experience and nurture their love of stories. Led by Stevie Lyon, an avid reader and mum of three, our sessions are backed by a BA (Hons) Education Studies (Primary) degree, and ten years' experience supporting children in mainstream and additional support needs schools.

Always a new story with new, fun, interactive activities for my 18 month old to explore. We are into our 2nd block of Sense-a-Story, and I see my daughters confidence growing every week. Would certainly recommend giving it a try!
